In Marine Diaries, Vir includes more than just a sterile recounting of the places he has visited, more than just cataloguing historical sites or landmarks. He is a true traveler - not a tourist. He finds joy in wandering and daydreaming, in special chance encounters with locals. He puts on paper all the feelings and thoughts that are born in this state. But, most of all he recounts his own transformation: a Northern Romantic who comes into contact with 19th century East. The journey transforms into a symbol as well as a tool of an internal quest, where lived reality becomes an instrument that sheds light on the travelers' inner self.
